- In the few months that we’ve been doing this, one casual observation is that the main stream media only reports on the area south of Midlothian Turnpike if there is a crime. We’re not much better but we’re working on it.

- Richmond Black Restaurant Experience runs through the 17th and has more than 35 participating spots, including South Richmond spots M&F Jamaican Cafe on Semmes, and Hull Street’s Philly Vegan, Croaker’s Spot, Pig & Brew, Red Hibachi, and Trio Restaurant. Try somewhere new or take a friend to an old favorite!
- The Run for the Hills 5K is in Forest Hill this Saturday. No impact on big roads or bridges, but the park will be busy.
- The speed cameras on Semme Ave go live on 3/18. Best to just slow down now.
WHEN IT RAINS IT FLOODS
- Think about the street in front of your house. Does it have a curb? A sidewalk? A ditch or drain? There are huge swaths of South Richmond that after more than 50 years of being part of the city don't have ANY of these things.
- Last week we got stories about frustrations with flooding and drainage improvements coming slow and steady.
IT TAKES A VILLAGE
- Have you seen Heather Halteh?
- Recently started seeing this car with the sovereign citizens un-license plate around Forest Hill and Cowardin. I would love to interview this guy, please pass this on if you know them.
- Mid-morning last Wednesday a car took out a power pole on Forest Hill Avenue, by 4PM everything was repaired and you'd be hard pressed to know that it even happened.
IT'S CIVIC ENGAGEMENT WEEK!
- There is a 5th District Town Hall Meeting this Wednesday, March 13 with Councilmember Stephanie Lynch
- Westover Hills Neighborhood Association meets Wednesday
- Manchester Alliance meets Thursday at Cafe Zeta
- Councilmember Reva M. Trammell, Richmond City Council 8th Voter District, will hold a district meeting on March 14th
